A well written and reasoned argument, Jeff. Now we have to figure out where we go from here. I think the first step is to refute the "slippery slope" argument, that any change in gun laws is effectively a ban on guns. We regulate a lot of things in the US, it seems crazy that we can't make sensible gun laws stick.
